In our January writing workshop, our workshoppers were asked to create a poem or short story, based on the above image. Here is what one of our newest WorldJammers, Debbie Moss, created:
The Promised Land
I know a place between earth and heaven
where the white-water sings and
beats out its rhythms as it dances over stones
in the Never Never Creek, and
smooth grey rocks rise like hippos in the midday sun.
I know a place where the trees wear
their bark in knots and tangles
and fold their roots around moss and mud,
promising a stairway to heaven.
Debbie does some amazing work for the National Holocause Centre, so do check them out here.
